Welcome
Carter. My Carter. He's a puzzle. A pretty darn cute one, but a hard one nonetheless. How do I describe him? How do I describe what it's like being his mommy everyday? His north star in his topsy-turvy world? Well, I don't really know. Not yet. But I'm gonna try. Because I think, to someone, somewhere, in a small way, it might help. And I think it will help me, too, to write it all out sometimes.
Carter is the love of my life, and occasionally the bane of my existence. He is my son. He's 4, and he's autistic. We're lucky. He's not as severe as many children like him. He does speak a little. He laughs, cries, and even jokes a bit! He's affectionate. My favorite times are when I get spontaneous kisses. Ah, those darlin little lips! And big blue eyes- usually pleading. For understanding, affection, help.
My goal here is to help you get to know Carter the way I do. And in the process, you'll get to know all about autism and about me, too. Welcome. Come on in and join us for this riotous ride we call life!
