Chips and Crackers

So Carter accomplished something truly amazing at school the other day.  It was lunch time, and all the kids at Assert bring home lunches.  Carter was sitting next to another boy who just happened to have crackers in his lunch.  Carter loves crackers.  Carter only had chips in his lunch.  Apparently, this other little boy loved chips.  They both kept eying each others lunches and saying to each other, "Chip?" and "Cracker?"  The teachers sat back and watched to see what they would do.  Well, something finally clicked in Carter's mind.  He handed his chip to the little boy, and took one of his crackers.  They both smiled.  Carter giggled, and they kept trading chips for crackers for the rest of lunch.
WOW! YAY! Do you know what that little exchange entails? Social interaction, problem solving, a sense of the well-being of another person!  I mean, he TRADED, he didn't just TAKE.  WAY COOL! That was a huge step.  We're celebrating here in our little homey world.  Go Carter!  You're a pretty amazing kid!
